Media Me

Welcome to my first official post of what should be many to follow. My name is Sean Dawson and I will be talking about the media and how it affects me. There are many different forms of media that we are constantly bombarded with everyday, in this post I will try to talk about a few of the major ones in my life. A lot if not most of my life revolves around movies but other large forms of media in my life are television and music.

I watch television every day of my life and like a wide array of different shows. I am a very open and easy going person there isn’t many shows I couldn’t sit down watch and enjoy. Me like a lot of teenagers my age still watch cartoons like family guy for all of the laughs but i also enjoy more in depth shows like house or C.S.I that hold you in suspense and make you wonder about what will happen next. Every season I watch the NHL knowing the leafs won’t make the playoffs but holding onto the small bit of hope they might. I have always enjoyed sports and activities and even the thrill of watching the game unfold but with the UFC I’m ready to jump right into it. This may be a large spectrum of different shows but isn’t everything I watch on the television.

I am very rare in the fact I am not very in touch with music and bands. I could listen almost all genres accept country and screamo with a few exceptions for good songs and I still have only bought one CD in my life (Greenday-American Idiot). I have always just listened to what was on the radio and could never find out the song names or the bands playing them. My favourite song is boulevard of broken dreams by Greenday and I am currently trying to learn it on the guitar. I feel that I can connect to it and that it could have many different meanings and symbols in it that make the lyrics interesting as well as a catchy tune and layered instruments. I may not be as up to date and current with music as most teens but i am looking forward to getting a working iPod and listening a little more.

Alas my favourite form of media that I consume a lot of with no fill. Movies are a large passion in my life which is why it is my favourite form of media. Working at the Park theatre I am always up to date on all up and coming releases and watch everything good that comes to our little town. My latest and favourite movie released this year was the dark night. Heath Ledgers performance was legendary drawing me into the evil of the joker over and over. My favourite series well 2 series- there tied- are Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. I am into action adventure movies but still watch horrors and comedies. One of the greatest movies of all time are Forrest Gump, I watched it first as a child and have loved it ever since it is the story of life and all the obstacles on its path. This is the media path in my life and the different forms of it I consume.
